Now that these bolts are stripped and out of your bounds, take it to a repair shop to have them removed and get new ones put in. While there, ask what you can do in the future. The decks are usually only held on by pins and clips. Remove the deck and stand it up against a wall or something and use a proper fitting wrench or socket to remove the bolt. If rounding begins in the future, do not try to re-use it. Go ahead and use a new one….possibly a harder bolt and don’t forget to use WD-40 or something like it to help remove stubborn bolts. A cresent or pipe wrench is not a proper removal tool. A pipe wrench may help your get a rounded bolt or vice grips, that is if there is enough bolt left. Usually, pro-help is all that is left. He’ll grind it down flat, drill a hole in it and use a ease-out and cuss under his breath.
You say the bolts are stripped. I guess you are talking about the heads. Soak the bolts with penetrating oil overnight. If you have a pair of visegripe pliers you maybe able to lock them on the bolt head. Also a good hard rap on the bolt head with a hammer may help. I use antisieze compound on all my mower bolts. phil
Take the deck off if you haven’t already. This may help in not rounding off the heads of the bolts. As noted use a vise grip and maybe just a bit of heat. Replace the bolts with new ones when you put it back together. renpen
